Federal Regulatory Landscape – Making Sense of the Changes
Federal regulatory expectations for financial institutions have shifted more dramatically, and more rapidly, than at any point in recent memory. This session examines the drivers behind that shift, offers practical guidance for navigating the current landscape, and outlines strategies for the future.

Illinois Regulatory Developments and Emerging Issues
Stay ahead of the latest developments affecting Illinois financial institutions, including the delayed Interchange Fee Prohibition Act and new Illinois laws on charitable organization beneficiaries, mandated reporting of elder financial exploitation, junk fees, and hemp. We’ll also cover the revised Illinois CRA rules, the state and federal divide on disparate impact, the legislative and regulatory focus on fees and consumer protection, and other emerging state regulatory and compliance issues.

Leading Through Influence: Communication Skills for Compliance and Risk Professionals
Compliance and risk professionals hold critical accountability without having direct line-authority over the operational teams executing the work. To succeed, professionals must communicate complex regulatory and risk-related matters to a wide spectrum of stakeholders—including executive leadership, business unit leaders, IT teams, legal counsel, external regulators, and even customers. Technical accuracy alone is rarely enough; driving organizational action requires moving from authority to nuanced influence.
This interactive, fast-paced one-hour session translates fundamental principles from intergroup communication, risk and crisis communication, and the Transactional Communication Model into actionable strategies for everyday compliance leadership. Participants will examine why communication breaks down across organizational “subcultures” and learn how to reframe high-stakes compliance mandates into operational enablers.
Through a real-world scenario focused on navigating complex regulatory change within a financial institution, attendees will work in small groups to break down the competing goals, noise, and hidden incentives of key internal and external stakeholder spheres. Participants will walk away with practical tools to craft tailored messages, deliver difficult news with confidence, reduce friction, and build lasting consensus across their organization..
