Serving Bank Clients with Limited English Proficiency
November 19, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am CST
Join us as we hear from Carly Perminas, CRCM, from CIBC Bank USA’s 1B Risk & Compliance team and Cisco Juarez, CRCM, leader of CIBC Bank USA’s Compliance Advisory team speaking about Serving Bank Clients with Limited English Proficiency. This session will discuss compliance and risks issues relevant to serving banks and credit union clients who have Limited English proficiency (LEP). It will provide a view into the statistical landscape of LEP persons in the US, as well as an understanding of the relevance of fair lending laws and regulations, disclosure regulations, and prohibitions on unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts and practices to how financial institutions may serve consumers in languages other than English. We will discuss regulatory and industry initiatives, including the CFPB’s most recent LEP guidance, and what might be on the horizon to facilitate financial institutions providing more services in additional languages.
